About us

It was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in July 1991, and currently has about 125 active individual and family memberships and approximately 250 members altogether. Our members include amateurs, hobbyists and professionals. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in rocks, minerals, gems, fossils, the lapidary arts, or jewellery making. The Society, which is affiliated with the Central Canadian Federation of Mineralogical Societies (CCFMS), is dedicated to promoting these collective hobbies for recreational, educational and general interest purposes. Officers of the Society are elected for a one-year term with no remuneration for their volunteer work.
